SSO Course Now Running
Clearwater Special Projects, a long respected name in Close Protection and Close Protection Training are approved to run Ship Security Training. 2012 Dates are now available.
We are now running regular Ship Security Officer's Courses (SSO) which includes our Anti Piracy Module.
This certification is fully approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and this standard is an international requirement for all shipping and the security of vessels.
The Ship Security Officers Course (SSO) is a mandatory requirement for those looking to work in the Maritime Security Industry.
Clearwater Special Projects Ltd are approved to run the (SSO) course which includes the Anti-Piracy Section of training. This new course provides our usual high standards of instruction and is taught over 3 DAYS.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a "Certificate of Proficiency in Designated Security Duties". Our Certification will allow you to conduct the duties of a SSO as listed in the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, which is an International requirement for all shipping and the security of vessels.
Our course is the mandatory standard and covers the following (To detail a few points):
- Understanding of the ISPS code (International Ship & Port Security)
- Provide Knowledge for the Ship Security Officer (SSO)
- Construct and understand a Ship Security Assessment (SSA)
- Construct and understand a Ship Security Plan (SSP)
- The roles of the Company Security Officer (CSO), Ship Security Officer (SSO) and Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO)
- Relevant Security Equipment and understanding their use
- Piracy hotspots
Knowledge of SOLAS (Safety of Life At Sea) legislation
Search Plans and Techniques
Threat Assessments
Profile of a Terrorist and Terrorist Groups
Weapons and Improvised Explosive Devices

If you pay a deposit only, the remaining payment is due three weeks before the course start date.
This fee includes full teaching, certification fees and VAT. It does not include food or accommodation.
