In March 2006 it became the law that you must have a license to work in Close Protection operations. To obtain a license you must complete and pass a course that is compliant with the specifications as laid down by the SIA. We are fully approved to offer this standard. Our course covers the 150 hours of training that is necessary to apply for a license.
The course is 14 days in duration and is a combination of classroom and practical exercises. It is an intensive course and all sections of the course must be completed to allow you to apply for your license.

Our training takes place at our central base in Shropshire in the middle part of the UK. Our offices, training centre and accommodation are all on one site at Netley Hall.
Our central base is a 3 hour drive from London, a 1 hour drive from Birmingham and a 1½ hour drive from Manchester.
Unless you live locally (to our central base) you will need to stay with us for the duration. Our accommodation is luxurious (to say the least) and you will be totally comfortable throughout your stay - ensuring the highest standard of learning and minimal fuss of having to travel to a training centre every day. *Accommodation is always subject to availability.
If you pass the course you will obtain a Certificate In Protective Security from our awarding body BNU (Buckinghamshire New University). This accompanied with a First Aid At Work Qualification will allow you to apply to the Security Industry Authority for a Front Line Close Protection License.
We make a commitment to our students; over the last six years many of our students still work for us and most are still in touch, but some still seek our guidance from time to time. As a further commitment to our students; for those who pass our training we will agree to mentor you free of charge for three years. To do this; when you pass you will receive a Close Protection federation pin badge, certificate and awarding photograph with the Clearwater Managing Director and Head Of Training. Your accompanying letter of achievement will also contain your unique log in and ID number. This will be your confidential identification and you can have access to the Clearwater team. All communications with the Clearwater team will be in the strictest of confidence. You will be able to seek advice on contracts, tendering, employment status and working opportunities to name a few. We will not be able to answer legal based questions or provide legal guidance; we do however give a promise to all federation members that you will receive a response within 24 hours of your question.
After the initial three year period of membership has finished you will be able to reapply for membership - this is free of charge. The Close Protection Federation is a non-profit making facility designed to help our students when they need it and lobby (if our members wish it) in the event of legislative change.
